Inboard and Sterndrive Repair for Orlando Boats

An inboard sits down in the hull where heat builds up and problems hide. We know where to look, and we have been doing it for 35 years.

What We Fix

  • Overheating and cooling system repairs
  • Raw water pumps, impellers and heat exchangers
  • Fuel delivery, fuel pumps and injector problems
  • Belts, hoses, starters and charging systems
  • Shaft, coupler, transmission and sterndrive issues
  • Engine overhauls and major mechanical repair
Our approach: We find the real cause before we quote the job. On inboards a symptom like overheating can come from several places, and fixing the wrong one wastes your money.

Signs Your Inboard Needs Service

Most inboard breakdowns give you a warning first. Here is what to watch for.

Call Us If You Notice

Temperature gauge creeping up
Steam or very little water at the exhaust
Squealing belts or burning smells
Water, oil or fuel in the bilge
Rough idle or loss of power
Grinding or clunking when shifting

An overheating inboard can go from a cheap pump repair to a cracked manifold in one afternoon. If the gauge climbs, shut it down and give us a call before running it again.

Hard Working Boats Need Steady Care

Central Florida is a big ski and wake boat area, and the Orlando lakes stay busy all year. Wake boats in particular run heavy ballast and long hours at low speed, which puts real strain on cooling systems, belts and drivetrains.

Cruisers and runabouts that sit between weekends have their own problems. Fuel goes stale, impellers take a set, and corrosion starts working on fittings and exhaust components. A little service at the right time saves a lot of money later.

Regular Inboard Care

  • Oil and filter changes on schedule
  • Raw water impeller replacement
  • Cooling system inspection and flushing
  • Belt, hose and clamp checks
  • Transmission and drive fluid service

We keep a record of everything so your warranty and resale value stay protected.

Common Questions

Inboard Repair FAQs

Common questions from Orlando inboard and sterndrive owners. Have another one? Call us.

(352) 408-0929
Why is my inboard engine overheating?
The usual suspects are a worn raw water impeller, a clogged intake or strainer, a bad thermostat, or a heat exchanger that is scaled up inside. A loose or broken belt can also do it. Shut the engine down as soon as the gauge climbs and have it checked before running it again.
Can you repair my inboard at my dock?
In many cases, yes. Cooling system work, impellers, belts, fuel issues and most electrical problems can be handled where the boat sits. Major overhauls or jobs that need the engine pulled usually happen at our shop, and we will tell you up front.
How much does inboard engine repair cost?
It really depends on what is wrong. Replacing an impeller and replacing a manifold are very different jobs. We diagnose the problem first and give you a written quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
How often should an inboard be serviced?
Most manufacturers recommend service every 100 hours or once a year, whichever comes first. Wake boats and boats used heavily through the summer may need it more often. We follow your manufacturer schedule and keep a record of every visit.
What kinds of inboard boats do you work on?
We work on ski boats, wake boats, cruisers, deck boats and sterndrive runabouts. If you are not sure whether we can help with your engine, just give us a call and ask.
Should I repair or replace an old inboard engine?
Sometimes a rebuild makes sense and sometimes it does not. After we diagnose the engine, we will walk you through the costs of each option and give you our honest opinion.
